ANDREWS MEMORIAL HOSPITAL NOW AUTHORISED TO TEST FOR COVID-19
As of Monday, January 25, 2021, the Andrews Memorial Hospital (AMH) located at 27 Hope Road in Kingston, will begin testing for the Coronavirus (COVID-19).
The AMH laboratory is one of several recently approved and certified by the Government of Jamaica, through the Ministry of Health and Wellness (MOHW), “for Antigen testing for the SARS-CoV-2 Virus.”
The hospital’s management, has approved the offering of the Rapid Antigen Test to external patients by appointment only. Those wishing to be tested at the AMH are asked to register for an appointment by visiting the hospital’s website at: www.amhosp.org/.
The Rapid Antigen Test is a diagnostic test done by taking a nose swab. This test is
used to detect the virus in a person’s respiratory tract and is reported to be more accurate in those showing COVID-19 symptoms.
The cost of the test is J$7,000.00 and those wishing to take it are required to pay online when they visit the hospital’s website to register to have it done. Test results will be available within 24 hours.
The AMH also advises that the PCR test is not being offered at the hospital at this time.
